Welcome to the Lagoon Activity Centre, Rosscarbery. A place where you can relax, feel free and take in the breathtaking serenity and beauty of West Cork and the Wild Atlantic Way.
At the Lagoon Activity Centre you will be able to take on our inflatable water park, rent a kayak, take the kids pedal boating, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding (SUP) or for the less adventurous, simply relax in our outdoor dining area by the water at Jack’s Shack, while enjoying some fresh coffee and food with a breathtaking view of the lagoon.
We are situated on the in-land side of the N71, or as most people know it, the Clonakilty to Skibbereen road. When you are driving to Skibbereen from Clonakilty, if you look to your right you will see our white beach hut and the Lagoon where we operate from.
Enjoy great day out for all ages
Can't swim? Don't worry!
If you fall in just stand up!

The main causeway across Ross estuary was part of the new Post Office road between Cork and Skibbereen. It was built between about 1810 and 1814. As parliamentary papers from London show, the route across the tidal sand flat represented a considerable deviation from the original, planned route, and additional costs were incurred. In the end, the new section of road at Rosscarbery became part of a long-running dispute between George Kingston, supervisor, and William Larkin, surveyor. Nevertheless, just over two hundred years later, the structure remains in good condition and serves as evidence of its good engineering design and strong foundation (Anthony Beese 2017).
‘Twas quite admired by everybody in the neighbourhood.’ (Ann Plumptre 1817).
With the causeway built, this effected the flow of water from Rosscarbery bay and the way the bay flushed out. This caused a build up of sediment and along with the baking heat of the summer sun, an unbearable stench arose. Cork County Council decided to do something about the stench and in the 1970’s they dammed the bridge on the western extremity of the causeway to permantly flood the in-land side of the bay. This would prevent the water level from dropping below 3.2m of the lowest tide at sea level at gives the Lagoon an average depth of 3 feet today.
In todays Ireland damming like this would seem an unspeakable act but it has created a mini ecosystem that would not exist otherwise. The Lagoon is an ecology of sea snails and worms, krill, shrimp, crab, pollock, mullet, silver eel, sand fish/rock fish and bass. All of these attract larger predators such as sea otters along with an extensive birdlife, including cormorant, little egret, heron, ganet, mute swan and many species of duck.
Our teenage son did this on his own and loved it. Well worth the money. We had great fun laughing when he fell in. I think 45 minutes is perfect. He was wrecked after it!😂
We took the trip from Cork City to The Lagoon Activity Centre for the day and it did not disappoint. We had an 8 year old with us and he really enjoyed the water park, as did we it is really great for all ages. Wetsuits and life jackets were provided and there was lovely hot
Booked for family of 4 as part of our holiday in West Cork and Paul the manager was very accommodating when we had a problem with the time we booked. We had great fun on the inflatables…kids loved the slide and the hamster wheel! There are lovely warm showers after too. Staff were great. We had previously been as a few times and and we will definitely be back again…it doesn’t get old!
Really, really enjoyable experience at the Lagoon. Wetsuits and life jackets provided, with both changing rooms and showers (for rinsing off only) available. Staff at reception and on the boat were very friendly and chatty. The course was very fun, and the 45 minute time was
Kids loved it definitely will do it again well worth the money, will do kayaking and pedal boats next time make a day of it
We had a fantastic day with our three chikdren at the floating water park...even our 16 year old enjoyed it. Even the rain couldnt dampen the experience and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend wearing aqua shoes as it can be shallow and stony underfoot.
Loved it big time. Must do experience of county cork, right after the butter factory.
Had a fab time here with my family. Staff were so friendly and helpful and made sure to look after my little girl.
The water park is great fun for the whole family. The kids loved it....and the daddy loved it. The Iceberg is a hard climb but totally worth it. We're living locally and have gone a couple of times....and will be back.
This activity centre is so much fun, and easy to find in Roscarbery! The staff were wonderful and friendly. Life jackets are supplied, and wetsuits are available if you need them. There are showers and restrooms available, and food to purchase also. The Lagoon Activity Centre is a great laugh. It's a bit on the slippy side, so be prepared to fall into the water if you're walking or running too fast! The water is salty, and while it's around 3ft deep in some places, it's much deeper in other parts. You can also hire out peddle boats, stand up paddle boards and kayaks also.A great activity centre for both adults and kids! 5 out of 5!!
Greatest 45 min of our holiday, really safe, crazy activity for all the family. You dont need to be a good swimmer its easy to get around
Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything very clean. We were very well supervised while in the water park and hence had lots of fun. Thanks to all the staff
We loved it...well run with friendly helpful staff...change in your cars as changing rooms are limited...
So much fun, staff were brilliant and great value for money. Would definitely recommend this for a family activity……..
Attended the floating water park, great fun family event. Note, the water is not clean, make sure not to swallow! Staff very pleasant.
3 kids from 8 to 11 had a brilliant time on the waterpark activity whilst mammy and 2 small ones had some ice cream and enjoyed the good weather 😀
The Lagoon Activity centre was extremely well runnIt is great fun for the family, from 8 years plus!nHighly recommend it, cant wait to go back
Great craic, I went with my 9 year old son. Wrecked afterwards but definitely worth it. Looking forward to doing it again.
Great spot. My 2 boys had a ball. Great facilities, great value. Friendly staff.
Staff were so helpful and friendly. Boys were aged between 9 and 11 years in our group. They truly enjoyed every minute. Only complaint they had was they wanted more time for their session. Highly recommended!!!
Had a great time with my kids on the inflatable water park. Staff were helpful and friendly. Change rooms are a little small when everyone is trying to get changed after, but thats a minor complaint. Will definitely go again
We had a great time at The Lagoon Waterpark. The five of us took part, kids from 8 to 15 and we had great fun. The only thing for us was that a couple of the inflatables could have had more air in them and showers stopped before we had a chance to use them when we finished,
Everything was excellent 👌 I honestly haven't had that much fun in years! It's brilliantly organised and the staff are so nice! Some great memories have been made today. Thank you
Fantastic activity centre kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Great fun plenty of exercise. Staff were friendly and helpful today especially Dylan with welcome and wetsuits etc. Recommend it highly kids of all ages will love it. Will be back again.
Very well run adventure park.Theres a pretty big inflatable park with water slides, trampoline & obstacles which you get to by speed boat & overseen by lifeguards. There are also peddle boats, kayaking & paddle boards for hire.It has a small shop for drinks & sweets & they make homemade pizzas as well.Good COVID19 measures here & the toilets are spotless. There are a few benches outside & it's great for a picnic in the good weather.
Kids ages 8-12 enjoyed it, adult thought it was good. The only negative is that groups tend to take over a session too much. There was a group of about 10 teens and our kids couldn’t get on certain things (e.g. rotator) as the group took it over for most of the session. Lifeguard should break this kind of hoarding up. The place is run by very young staff (teens), punctual and polite but I do wonder how they would cope if a serious incident occurred. Overall 4 happy people, but not racing back
Fun facilities and a lovely relaxed atmosphere at the centre. Very friendly staff at the centre base. Aqua park was fun but very daunting. Be prepared for essentially a slippery bouncy castle. Those in charge of the Aquapark we very unhelpful, bordering on rude. Myself and others were the ones pulling the dingy closer to the inflatable to help people on and off while they looked on. No positive interaction, just looked constantly bored by our existence and us possibly being in need of a hand. Nothing to wipe the very many cuts I witnessed on the way back. Those on shore were very helpful. Please remember that it is all of our first time on a wobbly, slippery inflatable in deep water that most of us are only on to keep out children happy. Our old bodies ache. It costs nothing to give us a fake smile and a hand onto wobbly polyethylene. In fact, it would go a really long way. You catch more flies with honey then with vinegar. Still had a great time though!
Staff very friendly , quaint , little coffee shop , 2 toilets a selection of water sports
The experience was mixed. If you’re fit you’ll get lots from it . Less so if you’re less so. We went with our Autistic son who felt limited in the things he could because the access to certain obstacles involved going through others he couldn’t manage. Other reviewers have
A group of 17 of us had a fantastic trip to the lagoon today from adults to age 8. So much fun for everyone, the staff were incredible and friendly. Highly recommend a visit, well worth the trip !
Big family group. Highlight of the family holiday. Kids loved it. Well worth a visit!
Took my two grandchildren to The Lagoon today. They had an absolutely great day and are already planning a return trip! The efficiency and friendliness of staff is second to none! Couldn't recommend it enough. Well done everyone!
Fun afternoon for all. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and buzz around the centre. Hope to go again next summer.
Great fun, well run and very safe! Staff were very friendly. Facilities were good also. Even a picnic area and some crepes etc available there.
Did the waterpark and pedal boat and kayaking - fantastic day out. Even in the rain. Highly recommend.
Great fun for all the family, staff excellent and facilities, well worth a visit. Will definitely be back
Had an amazing day at The Lagoon in Rosscarbery yesterday. We had 13 kids varying in ages from 8-18. They all had an absolute ball. So we’ll organises and safe. All of the employees, lifeguards etc were extremely helpful and great wit the kids. We will be back
Kids had a ball... Lots or running, swimming & climbing... For the spectators, the coffee was really good
Visited the Lagoon during the Summer with my two kids and they had a ball. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Lovely coffee available too. Shout out to a young lad called Ciaran who went over and beyond to help us. We look forward
I would likely recommend The Lagoon Activity Centre. The family really enjoyed the Total Wipeout style course. They were all smiley and tired afterwards. The coffee was good and the place is very well run and easy to navigate. It is a must see and do in West Cork!
A win win for parents and teenagers … Having two teenagers who are reluctant to go on holidays with their parents is a challenge but we could not recommend the Lagoon Activity Centre more - 1st day did water park and we were back a second day to race parents in kayaks across the
