If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the water, Stand Up Paddle Boarding is your answer.
SUP is a fun and easy way to get on the water and explore the lakes, rivers, and oceans around you. You can use it as a way to get fit, as well as improve your balance and coordination. It’s also a great way to spend time with friends and family!
Stand-up Paddle Boarding is one of the finest ways to get out and enjoy the water. The sport originated as a traditional Hawaiian custom that was reintroduced to the globe in the mid-60s and has since been the fastest growing board sport in the world, partly thanks to the fact that it’s very easy to learn!
We rent SUPs at Lagoon Activity Centre, so whether you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids or want to be able to spend some quality time with your spouse or significant other, we’ve got you covered. You’ll be able to enjoy the stunning scenery of West Cork from a whole new perspective on our paddle boards.
Our staff will help you find the perfect board for your needs, so don’t be afraid to ask questions!
The Lagoon Activity Centre has a range of paddle boards available for hire. They are designed for beginner to intermediate paddlers and are suitable for adults and children alike (with an adult).
If you’ve never tried paddle boarding before, don’t worry! We’ll go through some basic instructions before getting out on the water. Our instructors will be on hand throughout your session to give you advice, help with technique, or just chat about how much fun it is!
Our paddle boards are extremely sturdy, making it easy for anybody, regardless of their level of expertise, to learn to paddleboard. We’re pleased to share any tips we’ve learned along the road with you, too.
You’ll get wet, even if you’re an experienced paddle boarder, so leave your valuables and devices behind in the car or with us at our front desk.
The water is only 3 feet deep (does not apply to waterpark) and there are lifejackets provided for everyone.
Stand Up Paddleboarding is an offshoot of surfing. The sport originating in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits until a wave comes, stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. The sport was documented in a 2013 report that identified it as the outdoor sporting activity with the most first-time participants in the United States that year. Variations include flat water paddling for outdoor recreation, fitness, or sightseeing, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids (whitewater SUP), Paddle board yoga and even fishing.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything very clean. We were very well supervised while in the water park and hence had lots of fun. Thanks to all the staff
Great place for both adults and children, wetsuit available if you done bring your own, life jackets also, the lagoon is on about 3/4 foot deep so safe for all type of swimmers, water is salty (seems maybe dirty and stagnant to me but I'm no water expert). Big area for running around on and plenty of obstacles to tackle and then the slides
This activity centre is so much fun, and easy to find in Roscarbery! The staff were wonderful and friendly. Life jackets are supplied, and wetsuits are available if you need them. There are showers and restrooms available, and food to purchase also. The Lagoon Activity Centre is a great laugh. It's a bit on the slippy side, so be prepared to fall into the water if you're walking or running too fast! The water is salty, and while it's around 3ft deep in some places, it's much deeper in other parts. You can also hire out peddle boats, stand up paddle boards and kayaks also. A great activity centre for both adults and kids! 5 out of 5!!
Absolutely blown away by my experience at the Lagoon. Staff were exceptional and went above and beyond my expectations. The lads doing the lifejackets and wetsuits were so friendly and professional. The waterpark itself was great craic and all my group had a ball. The whole set
Went with my 8 year old, had an absolute blast, was in bits after the activities and still went out on the kayak after. Staff are amazing and so helpful. Will return on our next trip.
Great morning on the inflatables with 2 adults and 3 kids. Very well organised, friendly staff and good value in the cafe. Would highly recommend this activity, we all had great fun.
Attended the floating water park, great fun family event. Note, the water is not clean, make sure not to swallow! Staff very pleasant.
The water park is great fun for the whole family. The kids loved it....and the daddy loved it. The Iceberg is a hard climb but totally worth it. We're living locally and have gone a couple of times....and will be back.
Really, really enjoyable experience at the Lagoon. Wetsuits and life jackets provided, with both changing rooms and showers (for rinsing off only) available. Staff at reception and on the boat were very friendly and chatty. The course was very fun, and the 45 minute time was
We had a great time here this weekend. My eldest happily went out kayaking and enjoyed the large open space. The rest of us did the water park which had so much to do and was really fun.
Great family day out. The centre is run very well. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We've done a few of these water activities and this one is by far out favourite. You take a short boat ride out to it which was very exciting for the kids also. Toilet facilities are very clean and plenty of hand sanitizer. The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. We'll definitely be returning. Would highly recommend. Our kids are 13 and 11.
Book early. Always a hoot. For all ages! I'm early 50s and go with the teenagers every summer. The new pyramid is a testing climb but worth it. I started with this and got the wetting out of the way early on! Could do with clearing out of the pond scum which accumulates in two
Kids loved it definitely will do it again well worth the money, will do kayaking and pedal boats next time make a day of it
Great place. Very well run and very safe. A must visit if in west Cork.
It is a very family area for all ages and I really enjoyed my day
Had a fab time here with my family. Staff were so friendly and helpful and made sure to look after my little girl.
Very kind, friendly and helpful people behind the desk today and in the boat. Thanks a mill.
Great time kayaking first then water park we all had fun teens also had a great time just needs a little cleaning around water park some wood and rubbish floating around
Great spot. My 2 boys had a ball. Great facilities, great value. Friendly staff.
Everything was excellent 👌 I honestly haven't had that much fun in years! It's brilliantly organised and the staff are so nice! Some great memories have been made today. Thank you
Loved it big time. Must do experience of county cork, right after the butter factory.
So much fun, staff were brilliant and great value for money. Would definitely recommend this for a family activity……..
Great place. Very well run and very safe. A must visit if in west Cork.
Heading towards the 40s but still love the inflatable water park so much, my teenagers always have a ball too.
Big family group. Highlight of the family holiday. Kids loved it. Well worth a visit!
Kids and hubbie had a ball. Wetsuits optional, all wore life jackets and everyone seemed to enjoy. A little boat brings you from the pier to the feature in the lagoon. Life guard supervised also. Great spot. Would return
Fantastic activity centre kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Great fun plenty of exercise. Staff were friendly and helpful today especially Dylan with welcome and wetsuits etc. Recommend it highly kids of all ages will love it. Will be back again.
Kids ages 8-12 enjoyed it, adult thought it was good. The only negative is that groups tend to take over a session too much. There was a group of about 10 teens and our kids couldn’t get on certain things (e.g. rotator) as the group took it over for most of the session. Lifeguard should break this kind of hoarding up. The place is run by very young staff (teens), punctual and polite but I do wonder how they would cope if a serious incident occurred. Overall 4 happy people, but not racing back
Absolutely brilliant, kids really enjoyed the kayaking which is really safe. Will be back soon
Went to the Lagoon Activity Centre today for the first time and we had a ball. Went on the paddle boat and got a kayak each. Everything was very straight forward. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and such amazing value. Will definitely come back for some more fun when I come to west cork again.
Fun facilities and a lovely relaxed atmosphere at the centre. Very friendly staff at the centre base. Aqua park was fun but very daunting. Be prepared for essentially a slippery bouncy castle. Those in charge of the Aquapark we very unhelpful, bordering on rude. Myself and others were the ones pulling the dingy closer to the inflatable to help people on and off while they looked on. No positive interaction, just looked constantly bored by our existence and us possibly being in need of a hand. Nothing to wipe the very many cuts I witnessed on the way back. Those on shore were very helpful. Please remember that it is all of our first time on a wobbly, slippery inflatable in deep water that most of us are only on to keep out children happy. Our old bodies ache. It costs nothing to give us a fake smile and a hand onto wobbly polyethylene. In fact, it would go a really long way. You catch more flies with honey then with vinegar. Still had a great time though!
I would likely recommend The Lagoon Activity Centre. The family really enjoyed the Total Wipeout style course. They were all smiley and tired afterwards. The coffee was good and the place is very well run and easy to navigate. It is a must see and do in West Cork!
We went as a family (4 kids ages 16, 14, 6 and 4, and 2 adults) a day out to celebrate the 16th birthday! It's hard to impress the older lads, but they thoroughly enjoyed this! They went on the water park, we watched for a while before bringing the smallies out on a pedal boat.
We loved it...well run with friendly helpful staff...change in your cars as changing rooms are limited...
This was such a fun day out for adults AND kids. We kayaked, SUPd, and went on the activity park. They have a great set up, and great staff
Kids had a ball... Lots or running, swimming & climbing... For the spectators, the coffee was really good
