Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP)
If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the water, Stand Up Paddle Boarding is your answer.
SUP is a fun and easy way to get on the water and explore the lakes, rivers, and oceans around you. You can use it as a way to get fit, as well as improve your balance and coordination. It’s also a great way to spend time with friends and family!
Stand-up Paddle Boarding is one of the finest ways to get out and enjoy the water. The sport originated as a traditional Hawaiian custom that was reintroduced to the globe in the mid-60s and has since been the fastest-growing board sport in the world, partly thanks to the fact that it’s very easy to learn!
If you’re looking for a unique experience by renting a SUP paddle board, we at the Lagoon Activity Centre have got you covered! Whether you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids or want to be able to spend some quality time with your spouse or significant other, we’ve got you covered. You’ll be able to enjoy the stunning scenery of West Cork from a whole new perspective on our stand-up paddle boards.
Our staff will help you find the perfect board for your needs, so don’t be afraid to ask questions!
It's Like Surfing but Without the Waves!
The Lagoon Activity Centre has a range of paddle boards available for hire. Paddle boarding is designed for beginner to intermediate paddlers and is suitable for adults and children alike (with an adult).
If you’ve never tried paddle boarding before, don’t worry! We’ll go through some basic instructions before getting you to stand-up paddle board on the water. Our instructors will be on hand throughout your session to give you advice, help with technique, or just chat about how much fun it is!
Our stand-up paddle boards are extremely sturdy, making it easy for anybody, regardless of their level of expertise, to learn to paddleboard. We’re pleased to share any tips from paddle board Cork, that we’ve learned along the road with you, too.
You’ll get wet, even if you’re an experienced stand-up paddle boarder, so leave your valuables and devices behind in the car or with us at our front desk.
The water is only 3 feet deep (does not apply to waterpark) and there are lifejackets provided for everyone.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is an offshoot of surfing. The sport originating in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits until a wave comes, stand up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. The sport was documented in a 2013 report that identified it as the outdoor sporting activity with the most first-time participants in the United States that year. Variations include flat water paddling for outdoor recreation, fitness, or sightseeing, racing on lakes, large rivers and canals, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids (whitewater SUP), Paddle board yoga, and even fishing.

The water park is great fun for the whole family. The kids loved it....and the daddy loved it. The Iceberg is a hard climb but totally worth it. We're living locally and have gone a couple of times....and will be back.
We loved it...well run with friendly helpful staff...change in your cars as changing rooms are limited...
Absolutely brilliant, kids really enjoyed the kayaking which is really safe. Will be back soon
We had a fantastic day with our three chikdren at the floating water park...even our 16 year old enjoyed it. Even the rain couldnt dampen the experience and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend wearing aqua shoes as it can be shallow and stony underfoot.
Staff were so helpful and friendly. Boys were aged between 9 and 11 years in our group. They truly enjoyed every minute. Only complaint they had was they wanted more time for their session. Highly recommended!!!
It’s my third time in the Lagoona and it never disappoints. I came to do SUP and it was very enjoyable. Prices are also reasonable. Beautiful setting and so many other things to do around
We went as a family (4 kids ages 16, 14, 6 and 4, and 2 adults) a day out to celebrate the 16th birthday! It's hard to impress the older lads, but they thoroughly enjoyed this! They went on the water park, we watched for a while before bringing the smallies out on a pedal boat.
Very well run adventure park.Theres a pretty big inflatable park with water slides, trampoline & obstacles which you get to by speed boat & overseen by lifeguards. There are also peddle boats, kayaking & paddle boards for hire.It has a small shop for drinks & sweets & they make homemade pizzas as well.Good COVID19 measures here & the toilets are spotless. There are a few benches outside & it's great for a picnic in the good weather.
I would likely recommend The Lagoon Activity Centre. The family really enjoyed the Total Wipeout style course. They were all smiley and tired afterwards. The coffee was good and the place is very well run and easy to navigate. It is a must see and do in West Cork!
Absolutely blown away by my experience at the Lagoon. Staff were exceptional and went above and beyond my expectations. The lads doing the lifejackets and wetsuits were so friendly and professional. The waterpark itself was great craic and all my group had a ball. The whole set
Really, really enjoyable experience at the Lagoon. Wetsuits and life jackets provided, with both changing rooms and showers (for rinsing off only) available. Staff at reception and on the boat were very friendly and chatty. The course was very fun, and the 45 minute time was
We took the trip from Cork City to The Lagoon Activity Centre for the day and it did not disappoint. We had an 8 year old with us and he really enjoyed the water park, as did we it is really great for all ages. Wetsuits and life jackets were provided and there was lovely hot
Great place for both adults and children, wetsuit available if you done bring your own, life jackets also, the lagoon is on about 3/4 foot deep so safe for all type of swimmers, water is salty (seems maybe dirty and stagnant to me but I'm no water expert). Big area for running around on and plenty of obstacles to tackle and then the slides
Very kind, friendly and helpful people behind the desk today and in the boat. Thanks a mill.
Our teenage son did this on his own and loved it. Well worth the money. We had great fun laughing when he fell in. I think 45 minutes is perfect. He was wrecked after it!😂
Great day out for both adults and kids, any foot protection would be welcome, as you wouldn't notice the sore feet during the activity but definitely afterwards lol... ( Well worth it tho ☺️☺️).....
Loved it big time. Must do experience of county cork, right after the butter factory.
Great family day out. The centre is run very well. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We've done a few of these water activities and this one is by far out favourite. You take a short boat ride out to it which was very exciting for the kids also. Toilet facilities are very clean and plenty of hand sanitizer. The whole experience from start to finish was fantastic. We'll definitely be returning. Would highly recommend. Our kids are 13 and 11.
Fun afternoon for all. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and buzz around the centre. Hope to go again next summer.
Greatest 45 min of our holiday, really safe, crazy activity for all the family. You dont need to be a good swimmer its easy to get around
Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything very clean. We were very well supervised while in the water park and hence had lots of fun. Thanks to all the staff
A win win for parents and teenagers … Having two teenagers who are reluctant to go on holidays with their parents is a challenge but we could not recommend the Lagoon Activity Centre more - 1st day did water park and we were back a second day to race parents in kayaks across the
Booked for family of 4 as part of our holiday in West Cork and Paul the manager was very accommodating when we had a problem with the time we booked. We had great fun on the inflatables…kids loved the slide and the hamster wheel! There are lovely warm showers after too. Staff were great. We had previously been as a few times and and we will definitely be back again…it doesn’t get old!
Went with my 8 year old, had an absolute blast, was in bits after the activities and still went out on the kayak after. Staff are amazing and so helpful. Will return on our next trip.
3 kids from 8 to 11 had a brilliant time on the waterpark activity whilst mammy and 2 small ones had some ice cream and enjoyed the good weather 😀
Visited the Lagoon during the Summer with my two kids and they had a ball. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Lovely coffee available too. Shout out to a young lad called Ciaran who went over and beyond to help us. We look forward
The experience was mixed. If you’re fit you’ll get lots from it . Less so if you’re less so. We went with our Autistic son who felt limited in the things he could because the access to certain obstacles involved going through others he couldn’t manage. Other reviewers have
Big family group. Highlight of the family holiday. Kids loved it. Well worth a visit!
Went to the Lagoon Activity Centre today for the first time and we had a ball. Went on the paddle boat and got a kayak each. Everything was very straight forward. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and such amazing value. Will definitely come back for some more fun when I come to west cork again.
My kids and I visited today and had a brilliant time. We tried the kayaks, the pedalboats and finished up on the inflatable water park - it was so much fun! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the pizza was delicious. A great day out, thanks!!
Kids ages 8-12 enjoyed it, adult thought it was good. The only negative is that groups tend to take over a session too much. There was a group of about 10 teens and our kids couldn’t get on certain things (e.g. rotator) as the group took it over for most of the session. Lifeguard should break this kind of hoarding up. The place is run by very young staff (teens), punctual and polite but I do wonder how they would cope if a serious incident occurred. Overall 4 happy people, but not racing back
Great fun for all the family, staff excellent and facilities, well worth a visit. Will definitely be back
Brilliant, Went there with 4 kids aged between 8 and 13 plus a big 50yr lol. Kids loves every minute. Staff were great.
We had a great time at The Lagoon Waterpark. The five of us took part, kids from 8 to 15 and we had great fun. The only thing for us was that a couple of the inflatables could have had more air in them and showers stopped before we had a chance to use them when we finished,
Excellent - would highly recommend. Everything went so smoothly from when we arrived until the end. The kids all had a great time - they varied from 10-14 years of age. We will definitely be back.
Had a fantastic day out as usual, our annual visit to the lagoon! Changing rooms and toliets spotless, staff amazing and very helpful. We did the waterpark which requires a good level of fitness but thats clearly started in the terms and conditions, very detailed safety talk, lifeguards on the ball as per usual. Overall a fantastic day out , we will most definitely be back, looking forward to next year already. nHighly recommend.
Staff very friendly , quaint , little coffee shop , 2 toilets a selection of water sports

Yes, as the weather impacts the conditions of the sea, it is strongly recommended to check the weather forecast when you are planning your visit to stand-up paddle with us.

Yes, we provide life jackets to all participants who are paddle boarding. Life jackets act as a fundamental piece of safety equipment as they are buoyant and keep paddlers afloat if they are in the water. Life jackets must be worn by everyone who participates in our activities, regardless of their knowledge or their expertise.
This is a beginner-friendly activity, meaning you do not have to buy any water sports gear to use our SUP paddle boards, however, we recommend that you bring the following items to get the most out of your adventure activity here in Rosscarbery.
Sunscreen: As seasoned pros, we know the weather can be deceiving out at sea; therefore, we highly recommend applying sun cream when paddle boarding to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays and to avoid getting sunburned!
A Hat: Wearing a hat while stand-up paddle boarding can act as a form of protection from sunburn while also protecting your eyes from the sun.
Sunglasses: Wearing sunglasses while paddle boarding can improve your visibility, reduce eye strain from harsh UV rays, and minimize the overall glare from the sea.
Swim-Wear: We recommend bringing swimwear that you feel comfortable in for paddle boarding Cork.
Food and Drinks: Stand-up paddle boarding is a fun, energetic activity, it’s worthwhile packing some food and drinks to keep yourself hydrated and to keep your energy levels up!
